i actually used to know what this was. now i've forgotten. it smells a little like poop. the flies, which i had to keep shooing away apparently agree. my goal when i got the stupid ass digital camera was to make a post a day, but i doubt i'll be able to keep up with that. as of yet i've been unable to find the "vision" thing.

Weird Orange Thing in the Grass

It *does* look a bit like soiled underpants...
It looks like a stinkhorn fungus. They generally smell like rotting meat or animal feces. Here's a picture of something close.
I think I've found which particular stinkhorn, actually, the squid stinkhorn, or Clathrus columnatus. See here (link there). I knew I'd seen something similar before.
